Who we are

Studio Van der Grift was founded by award-winning designer Bert van der Grift. After finishing his studies at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, he worked for various design studios including Sawaya & Moroni, Pilat&Pilat and Thomas Eyck. He started his own label in 2019, with the intent of distancing himself from mass production and committing to sustainability and future-proof product design. Talking about sustainability isn’t enough at this point – it is time to act.

The studio is located in Leeuwarden, Friesland. Silence, slowness and raw (coastal) nature characterize this northern part of The Netherlands. Nature is one of the best sources of inspiration to Van der Grift and his team, as it works in cycles. They aim to transfer this concept to furniture production by combining sustainable materials (like recycled PET felt, recycled metals and certified timber) with innovative circular concepts.
